68 Student Athletes named to NESCAC All-Academic

Sixty-eight students from Bates College's spring sports teams have received All-Academic honors from the New England Small College Athletic Conference. To be honored, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic standing and be a varsity letter winner with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50 (raised from 3.40 a year ago).

Students present environmental capstone projects

Bates College environmental studies majors completed courses in natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities in addition to a 200-hour internship and the community-engaged capstone course in which groups of students pair with a community organization to bring scientific and other types of expertise to a specific project that addresses a community-identified need.

Students serve on Bates College Martin Luther King Jr. Day planning committee

Each year at Bates, the observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day is an intense multi-day, community-wide opportunity to discuss, teach, and reflect on King's legacy. Eight students served on the committee overseeing the planning and coordination of the event.

Amelia Wilhelm nominated by NESCAC for NCAA Woman of the Year

Bates College's Amelia Wilhelm has been nominated for the 2018 NCAA Woman of the Year Award by the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC). The NCAA Woman of the Year Award honors graduating student-athletes who have distinguished themselves throughout their collegiate careers in the areas of academic achievement, athletics excellence, service, and leadership. The award has been given annually since 1991.
