HADLEY, Mass. -- Bates senior Grace Fitzgerald received Second Team All-NESCAC honors on Wednesday, as the New England Small College Athletic Conference released its 2019 NESCAC Field Hockey All-Conference team.

A midfielder and two-year team captain, Fitzgerald (Larchmont, N.Y.) led the Bobcats to a 10-6 record, their most victories since 1999, as well as a No. 19 ranking in the final national Division III poll released this week. Bates finished the regular season with a 6-4 NESCAC record, their most league wins since the NESCAC became a playing conference in 2000, to earn the fifth seed in the NESCAC playoffs.

Fitzgerald tied junior forward Emily Gianunzio (Darien, Conn.) for Bates' team lead in points in 2019, tallying four goals and five assists to finish with 13 points. She has played a vital two-way role for the Bobcats for four years, and finishes her career with 13 goals, 15 assists and 41 points.

This is Fitzgerald's second career collegiate postseason honor -- she and Taylor Lough '19 were both named All-Region by the NFHCA in 2018.

It marks the third straight year that the Bobcats have placed a team member on the All-NESCAC squad, following Lough's awards in both 2017 and 2018.
