LEWISTON, Maine -- Recently graduated Bates women's track and field and cross country stars Katie Barker and Ayden Eickhoff are two of the 10 women who were named to the Google Cloud CoSIDA Academic All-District Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Team on Tuesday, for NCAA Division III's District 1, encompassing Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont colleges.

Both Barker and Eickhoff advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in June. Selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, the CoSIDA Academic All-America program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom.

Barker graduated magna cum laude from Bates Sunday with a B.S. in chemistry, boasting a cumulative grade point average of 3.90. Barker became the sixth All-American in Bates women's cross country history in November, leading the Bobcats in every race this season, including the NCAA Division III Championships, where the team finished 17th in the country. Barker also competed in the 3,000-meter run at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships, finishing in ninth place.

Eickhoff graduated on Sunday with a B.A. in environmental studies, earning a 3.68 cumulative grade point average, a day after winning her sixth career All-America honor -- more than any runner in Bates women's track and field history. Eickhoff was also a major force on Bates' cross country team, earning All-NESCAC and NCAA All-Region honors along with Barker. At the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in March, Eickhoff anchored and propelled Bates' distance medley relay team to second place in Division III, then placed third in the country in the 800 meters the following day. Eickhoff capped her brilliant career by placing second in the women's 1,500 meters at the NCAA Outdoor Championships Saturday in Geneva, Ohio.
