Rachel Ryan participates in Bates College Junior Semester Abroad program

Rachel Ryan, the child of Julia A. Smith of New York, N.Y., and a 2011 graduate of the Dalton School, participated in the Bates College Junior Semester Abroad program.

Ryan, who is majoring in environmental studies at Bates, studied in Spain through the Institute of Educational Studies.

About 60 percent of Bates students study abroad, and Bates offers access to academically rigorous and culturally enriching study-abroad programs in more than 80 countries.
