Milton native Emily Regan completes Heywood Healthcare internship

2014 Nov 12

Bates College student Emily Regan of Milton, Mass., completed an internship through Heywood Healthcare in Gardner, Mass.

A senior neuroscience major at Bates, Regan supported Heywood's Office of External Affairs, where she assisted in critical public health projects. Her efforts included writing the evaluation of a multidisciplinary team model of care to support mental health and substance abuse patients presenting in emergency departments, the development of an expanding "Complementary Care Program" model for oncology patients at the hospital and assisting with presentations at a variety of community, hospital and coalition meetings.

A 2011 graduate of Milton High School, Regan is the daughter of Mr. Joseph M. Regan of Milton, Mass., and Ms. Kathleen E. Regan, also of Milton.

Dawn Casavant, vice president of external affairs and chief philanthropy officer of Heywood Healthcare, praised Regan for her "commitment, professionalism, and skill well beyond [her] years," traits that have served her well at Bates.

Located in Lewiston, Maine, Bates is internationally recognized as a leading college of the liberal arts, attracting 2,000 students from across the U.S. and around the world.
