Bates student Gregg Heller receives NESCAC All-Academic honors

2014 Dec 5

Gregg Heller, a member of the men's cross country team at Bates College, received New England Small College Athletic Conference All-Academic distinction for the fall 2014 season. To receive NESCAC All-Academic honors, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic standing and be a varsity letter winner with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.35.

Heller, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Stan G. Heller of Walla Walla, Wash., is a 2012 graduate of Walla Walla High School. He is majoring in mathematics and neuroscience at Bates.

"Bates Athletics is especially proud that our students perform as well in the classroom as they do in their respective sports," said Kevin McHugh, director of athletics at Bates. "The NESCAC All-Academic citations are a testament to the 'student' component of 'student-athlete.'"

Located in Lewiston, Maine, Bates is internationally recognized as a leading college of the liberal arts, attracting 2,000 students from across the U.S. and around the world.
