Bates graduate and Lynnfield native completes Heywood Healthcare internship

2014 Nov 12

Michael Arsnow, of Lynnfield, Mass., recently completed an internship with Heywood Healthcare in Gardner, Mass. Arsnow, a 2014 graduate of Bates College, supported Heywood's Office of External Affairs, where he assisted in critical public health projects. His efforts included assisting in diabetes and healthy eating programs in local schools and writing the evaluation of a multidisciplinary team model of care to support mental health and substance abuse patients presenting in emergency departments. Arsnow also assisted senior team members with presentations at a variety of community, hospital and coalition meetings and served on Heywood's "Healthy Harvest 5K" planning committee.

Arsnow, who majored in biological chemistry at Bates, is the son of Mrs. Barbara G. and Mr. Edward J. Arsnow of Lynnefield, Mass.

Dawn Casavant, Vice President of External Affairs and Chief Philanthropy Officer of Heywood Healthcare, the hospital's parent organization, praised Arsnow for his "commitment, professionalism, and skill well beyond [his] years," traits that served him well at Bates. Arsnow is now teaching organic and physical chemistry to high school students in Thailand.
