Bates graduate Margaret Peterson awarded a Fulbright grant

Bates College graduate and Bethesda, Maryland native, Margaret Peterson, has been awarded a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship to support an academic year abroad in Germany.

Peterson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward C. Peterson of Bethesda, Maryland, is a 2011 graduate of the Holton-Arms School. At Bates, Peterson majored in German and rhetoric.

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program is funded primarily by the U.S. Department of State and sends some 1,500 citizens abroad each year to more than 155 countries. With 45 graduates having received Fulbrights in the past four years, Bates is a "top producer" of Fulbright U.S. Student grants, ranking among the top 10 U.S. bachelor's degree colleges.
