Bates graduate Barbara Crespo awarded a Fulbright grant

Bates College graduate and Bronx, New York native, Barbara Crespo, has been awarded a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship to support an academic year abroad in Guatemala.

Crespo, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jose Crespo of Bronx, New York, is a 2011 graduate of Mott Hall Bronx High School. At Bates, Crespo majored in environmental studies.

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program is funded primarily by the U.S. Department of State and sends some 1,500 citizens abroad each year to more than 155 countries. With 45 graduates having received Fulbrights in the past four years, Bates is a "top producer" of Fulbright U.S. Student grants, ranking among the top 10 U.S. bachelor's degree colleges.
