Bates graduate Amelia Oliver awarded a Fulbright grant

Bates College graduate and Potomac, Maryland native, Amelia Oliver, has been awarded a Fulbright Study/Research Grant to support an academic year abroad in Ukraine.

Oliver, daughter of Mr. David W. Oliver and Ms. Galina J. Mikhlin-Oliver of Potomac, Maryland, is a 2011 graduate of Sandy Spring Friends School. At Bates, Oliver majored in English and Russian.

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program is funded primarily by the U.S. Department of State and sends some 1,500 citizens abroad each year to more than 155 countries. With 45 graduates having received Fulbrights in the past four years, Bates is a "top producer" of Fulbright U.S. Student grants, ranking among the top 10 U.S. bachelor's degree colleges.
